Word norms and measures of linguistic reclamation for LGBTQ+ slurs

Abstract While databases of taboo language word norms exist, none focus specifically on slurs as a category language. Furthermore, no existing include measures linguistic reclamation, phenomenon which may affect the processing slurs. I produced database in 155 native or near-native speakers British English rated 41 LGBTQ+ for number properties and reclamation. then ran correlation demographic group comparison analyses resulting database. found clear pattern between reclamation behaviours. also that there were age-related differences age acquisition familiarity ratings; gender identity sexual affected by being target slurs; particularly ratings.
